Parent Conference Scheduling

parent Conferences 2019

Dear Wood Ranch Families,

The Board of Education of the Simi Valley Unified School District values the partnership with parents in the education of children. The District provides opportunities for parent-teacher communications throughout the school year. The purpose of parent-teacher conferences is to celebrate the academic progress that is taking place in the classroom as well  as to make plans for how you can work together to foster even more student progress and success.

Parents are a child’s first and most influential teacher.  The majority of your child’s time is spent with you, the parent. That is why it is so important for you to be an active part of our children’s learning process.  When parents are involved in their children’s education, research has shown that those children:

  • have higher grades, test scores and better attendance

  • achieve more, regardless of other factors

  • exhibit more positive attitudes and behavior

  • have higher graduation rates and greater enrollment rates in post-secondary education

  • are less likely to use drugs and alcohol and are less likely to be violent or antisocial

  • are less likely to fall behind in academic performance

All children learn in different ways.  To help their students learn new knowledge and skills, teachers must know as much as they can about each child.  No one knows more about these than you, the parents. Ideally, students, parents and teacher form a learning team and we value your input.  Conferences create an opportunity for members of the team to enhance your child’s achievement. Parent/teacher conferences will be held on Monday, October 21st through Monday, October 28, 2019.  Dismissal will be at 12:55 pm all six-conference days.  Each child may only have one conference. If none of the conference days and times work for you, please contact your child's teacher.
